Admit It: America Is an EmpireAdmit It: America Is an Empire
Realism about our global role could lead to better governance.
Aspecter is haunting America: the specter of empire. Some call out America as an empire in order to rally opposition to U.S. imperialism. Meanwhile, as one source puts it, “In large and mid-size cities across America, protests were organized to say, ‘America is not an Empire ruled by a King.’” But those protesters are worried it will become an empire, as is Donovan Martin Sr., who declares that we are “at the Crossroads.”
Tucker Carlson, long a critic of over-ambitious American foreign policy, has recently declared that we actually are an empire. And Trump’s recent maneuvers vis-à-vis Venezuela and Greenland have certainly made this specter appear more frightening.
Is America now an empire? And if so, what should we do about it?

America hasn't controlled its own money or supply chains in decades. If it ever was an empire, it's less so now. It's only ever known a constant battle to not be a colony of the globalist empire.
What these globo-communist rags fear is it no longer being a colony, but reforming into the American Citadel
What does America mean in this context to you? The United States government? Or a cabal of elites, including bankers and multinational corporations? Or do you mean the American people as in the nation?
The American people, inhabitants of the American Citadel
Mostly non-Americans, collaborators and infiltrators that must be dealt with less the Citadel be lost forever.
That's a battlefield over the Castellan, not an entity itself.
Definition: A political unit having an extensive territory or comprising a number of territories or nations and ruled by a single supreme authority.
America has been an empire for a while, depending on whether that last clause can refer to a small group.
America has been an empire since the end of WW2...
This is the thing that kills me. People that think... Oh now that we are watching the post WW2/consensus dissolve we think it's an empire. It's all Trump...
Nah, Trump is the result of the old world order failing. He isn't the cause.
What am I gonna do? Same I've been doing. Build resilience. Build in my community. I can't change something at the national level. I can in my life and home town.
I want to clarify something as it can be confusing when we use the term America. When I refer to America as an empire, in this context, I mean the state, which is controlled by competing groups of elite bankers and multinational corporations. These groups use the United States government to control an empire of vassal states.
I believe today we are in the midst of a shift from the old world order of democracy to a more traditional national-based or people-based empire. There will no longer be one superpower, but multiple smaller powers is how I see this playing out over time.
Again, I don't think this is because of Trump. I think these are trends that happen over time that are above someone like Donald Trump. While there are definitely reasons for concern and possible outcomes that could be very disastrous, I don't think the previous trajectory of the world was lacking those same risks. In many ways, the previous world order was untenable and doomed to failure from the start.
Since the Spanish American War
I think it is, and let's hope it stays there for a few more years. When the fall or overthrow by another stronger empire comes, it is us mere mortals who pay the consequences. For now, we must let it be a game of spending and debt, and infinite printing. Meanwhile, we escape step by step towards parallel models outside the control of the system. I believe the first step is to use and own Bitcoin, keeping the fruits of your labour away from the greedy and clumsy clutches of the current rulers of the dominant empire.
