This ₿uilder meetup is dedicated to the active design initiatives shaping Bitcoin’s future — and how builders can meaningfully participate in them.
Schedule:
5:00 - 6:00 PM : Open Networking
6:00 PM - Introduction
6:15 PM - 7:00 PM : 2026 Initiative Discussion
7:00 - 7:15 : Money Dev Kit Demo
7:15 - 8:00 : TBD
The Bitcoin Design Community has laid out an ambitious, open slate of work: reference wallets, design systems, protocol-level UX contributions, human-readable addresses, privacy, inheritance, Layer-2 consistency, vibe-coding workflows, and more.
At this event, we will walk through the current design initiatives in concrete terms:
What problems they are trying to solve
Where they are in their lifecycle (planning, alpha, advocacy)
What skills are actually needed right now
How designers, developers, and product thinkers can plug in
We will discuss flagship efforts like:
Reference Wallets as an aspirational UX bar for the ecosystem
Bitcoin Builder Kits and vibe-coding in an AI-native world
Human Bitcoin Addresses (BIP-353) and the future of usability
Design at the protocol layer (BIPs, BOLTs, NIPs)
Consistency across Layer-2s without leaking complexity into UX
Privacy, inheritance, and multi-party custody as design problems, not just cryptographic ones
To ground the conversation in execution, we’ll also look at Money Dev Kit as an example of how design intent becomes real-world payment flows. We’ll examine how developer tooling, abstractions, and defaults directly influence user trust, comprehension, and adoption — especially for Lightning and instant payments.
This is a working session for people who want to:
Design Bitcoin products that normal humans can use
Contribute to open initiatives with global impact
Align design, protocol, and payments into coherent systems
Help decide what Bitcoin becomes, not just how it looks
Who this is for
Designers who want to work on meaningful, open Bitcoin problems
Engineers building wallets, payments, or protocol-adjacent tools
Product managers translating user needs into Bitcoin constraints
Builders curious where to contribute time, talent, or code
Bitcoin is money for everyone — but it is also yours.
This meetup is about deciding, together, what we design it to be.
