I've eaten 2

reply

You're ahead of me. I have eaten a lot of regular SnS burgers, but this was my first "bitcoin burger."

reply

don't think I'd ever had SnS before they started offering.

one time I went just because bitcoin, the other time I went just because hungry. both times, a bit of a drive... the second time was motivated by quality.

I'll add... I'm a huge fan of the tallow fries.

as @DarthCoin mentioned tho... not a huge fan of carelessly spending sats where I don't need to. while that's true, I also like to support business I know/appreciate when they're onboard with accepting sats

reply

People should buy something with sats because they really need that thing, not because is possible to buy it with sats.

Yes, is good and recommended to go and buy a necessary thing from merchants that accept BTC.

In few years people will remember my words because of their spending habits of today. I am not talking about this burger, but in general, people are buying all kind of crap with sats.

Siggy, I am not saying that you didn't needed that burger, you have to eat, is OK. But I really hope you didn't buy it just because they accept your sats, but because you were hungry.

I have had a very interesting week that has given me hope for the future. I will probably wind up posting more about it, but let me address your point.

This was a silly, half joking poll that I made in an airport while killing time for my flight. The reality of that picture of the bitcoin burger was more important.

As I mentioned here a few times, I took a road trip with my oldest friend. We are both boomers, but we met when we were ten years old. We are practically family. We know each other's wife, kids, cousins, etc. He was actually present when I bought my first bitcoin with my cousin in 2018. He made fun of us, saying the government will ban it.

On Sunday, we were watching football all day, drinking beer and talking. We both fell asleep as old men do. When we woke up we were hungry. I started googling around to see what was open, and I saw that Steak n Shake would be open for another hour. We jumped in the car. I said, "this place accepts bitcoin. I'll treat us both." He didn't believe me. He said bitcoin wasn't real money. He went to the kiosk first and found the bitcoin burger. He thought it was funny and said we both should get one. He watched me pull up the invoice, open my alby go wallet, and scan the qr code. Luckily it worked instantly! That's not always the case.

We ate our meal and HE started asking me about bitcoin. I have done this with other family members too. It is a valuable tool, and it tastes good. I could talk for hours about bitcoin with him (I have tried), but that one scan was more effective.

reply

I am all ok with that, don't take me wrong.

reply

Oh, I know. I just want other people to see the possibilities. I understand your point.

reply

Where is this?

reply

Steak n Shake. They have created a bitcoin burger.

reply

Ahh okay none near me 😢

reply

There are many off of I-95 once you're south of Jersey. If you're qualified you can buy a franchise for 10k down.

reply

Siggy if I send you 10k will you be my strawman frachise director while your local warlords transition out of their nazi phase? I don't like being forced to be an ETH loving vegetarian just because of where I was born. haha.

reply

I don't even think the company would issue a franchise in NY. They know better😀

The CEO has some I teresting ideas. He's really committed to growing the company, and his commitment to bitcoin seems real.

reply

I agree that excluding the NE from growth focus for now could be a good headache avoidance strategy.

How does this work for PubKey? They accept sats, right?

reply

Evan set up a Zeus wallet when they opened. It's good, but the regulatory crap keeps them from pushing people to pay in bitcoin. I know someone whose friend works in the DC PubKey. They have a different setup. Apparently the regs are much simpler, the wallet is faster (maybe custodial?), and they actually encourage bitcoin payments.

Wow cheap!

reply

It is cheap.

Two of the locations in Vegas turned me down when I asked if they accepted bitcoin. I was bummed.

reply

What! I thought it was a nationwide roll out

So did I. A worker at the second one seemed annoyed that I even asked.

reply

Really? I had no idea. Maybe it is up to the franchisee? (I don't think so)

reply

Holding out hope that Steak n Shake will come to Singapore one day

reply

They're gonna pay their employees bonuses in sats

Oh it's s steak nnshake! Yes yes, I have... Thought it was some sort of pastry

reply

I need to make it south of the border again to try one (maybe for other reasons too), I just hate going through customs.

reply

Can't blame you

My dream:

Me: shows picture of Siggy's burger
Officer: onward, Cowboy.

reply

Ummm can we please have an option of no but I can’t wait to have one?! Otherwise I can’t vote!

reply

Sorry. This was not a well planned poll.

reply

Some people can't accept being an ETH loving vegetarian

reply

This was of course facetious.

reply

Will do if they ever come to New Zealand!

reply

Can't say I have but I would love to.

reply

We need some up here in the northeast, I'd eat there every day.

reply

Well, I'm not sure my digestive system could handle that, if I'm being completely honest.

reply

Damn, none in my area. Been wanting to go. Guess that makes an ETH loving vegetarian for now

reply

I'm afraid so. This is a cruel poll.
