The Bills played their last home game yesterday in Highmark Stadium as the Bills will move into their new stadium starting next season. I didn’t go to many games growing up due to my humble beginnings but I do have two really fond memories of going to the stadium.

Memory #1 Bills vs (Colts At Rich Stadium)Memory #1 Bills vs (Colts At Rich Stadium)

Growing up I was a huge Peyton Manning fan. He was still fairly early in his Indianapolis Colts career and I wanted to see him live. I remember asking my grandpa (RIP) if he would go to the game with me. I can’t remember how we got tickets. I think my grandpa may have purchased them.

But the vivid memory I have is us two walking up way to the top of the stadium as we had nosebleeds seats. I remember my first thought being “man these seats suck I am up so high and I can’t see anything!”

I can’t remember much from the game or who even won. I want to say Manning scored on a naked bootleg in the game but I might be confusing that game with another one.

This was my first time going to a public bathroom at a sporting event and I remember how crazy that was for me at such a young age! No where to privately pee!! I was so worried but my Grandpa had no caries and was pissing like a champ! That would be the first and only game my grandfather and I would attend at the stadium.

Memory #2 Bills vs. Dolphins (At Ralph Wilson Stadium)Memory #2 Bills vs. Dolphins (At Ralph Wilson Stadium)

I used to work at Wegmans which was about a mile from the Buffalo Bills stadium. Players would often time come to that store to get their groceries. I remember always checking out Peerless Price and his lady. For some reason they would never smile or say hi. I am sure I cashed out other players but Price always stuck out to me. Maybe he hated being in Buffalo.

Anyways one day I was working and a guy or maybe a couple I was cashing out and he offered me his tickets to the game. It was Buffalo vs. Miami and Rick Williams was coming to town. He didn’t want the tickets because it was going to be too cold for him. So I gladly took them!

Since I had two tickets I asked my best friend if he wanted to come with me he said year and his uncle who happed to be a disgraceful Dolphins fan found a ticket right next to us. So all three of us went to the game. We tried our best to prepare for the elements we bundled up really good. Wore two or three pairs of socks. Had heat warming packets for our hands we thought we were ready!!

Once at the game the seats were really good. We were in the the end zone right off the side of the field goal posts.

I have few vivid memories from this game.

  1. I remember Peerles Price caught a pass and took it too the house.
  2. Ricky Williams had a MASSIVE day against us. I think he had 200+ yards rushing. The one long touchdown run was toward our end zone and I remember he had this black shinny visor on. All I could think of is man Ricky you are one bad dude.
  3. My best friend uncle was a weed smoker and he was super hype when we could smell someone behind us smoking weed. Definitely was skunky that day.

We ended up leaving early becase we were freezing to death. But the Bills won the game! I remember soon as I got home I stayed in bed for hours trying to warm my self up. I think I might of missed school the next day to give myself extra time to thaw out.

I never technically went to a game when it was called Highmark. When I went to the games Buffalo hadn’t built this reputation of being degenerate fans yet. So I didn’t see any table breaking or dudes getting blown in public all that stuff came much later. I did go to a few tailgates but they were in private parking lots around the stadium plus I didn’t have a ticket to actually go to the game.

We shall see if I ever get a chance to make it to the new Highmark Stadium but I want to thank my Grandpa and Ricky Williams for making the two times I did go very memorable!

Nice double entendres in there

Also, the big urinal trough at the Meadowlands is the most vivid memory from my first football game. That really leaves an impression, apparently.

I still hate urinal troughs as a grown man
