I don't remember where I heard it, but I remember an interesting concept of a "ghost Uber service".

Imagine a future where Bitcoin is much more widely accepted and driverless cars are a thing. A well off guy buys a fleet of these cars and automates everything. They receive payment over Lightning to drive you anywhere in the city. They automatically service themselves by driving into a mechanic and paying them. They automatically clean themselves by going to car washes and interior cleaning services and paying them too. They replace the old vehicles with new ones using the profit. It automatically files taxes. You get the idea.

One day, the rich guy dies alone in his condo or house. He's a socially isolated fellow, so no one notices for a long time. All the while the Uber service he owned is automatically running itself. Eventually someone finds the dude's body a year or two later. Now the city has a conundrum. Do they let this ghost service continue? Who technically owns the business?

I don’t recall the author or source, but pre-lighting, a similar idea was discussed wherein autonomous agents would lease hosting space for themselves by offering coding or other services. They take payment in bitcoin, can move about to other servers and/or replicate, and could modify their own code. With lightning and current AI, I think this is totally doable today.

It's a good idea, the tricky part is hosting your lightning node's secret key on "non-custodial" vm's on say AWS, GCP, etc. As Luke Dash Jr discovered when he got usb rootkit'd : not your server farm, not your sats.

IIRC Andreas Antonopoulos talked about self driving taxis that own themselves and then go to also service where they are repaired by robots, all based on Bitcoin payments years ago.

I was thinking of a Cyber Truck doing this one day. Picking up people, accepting lightning payments, and using that money to run itself thru the car wash, charge up, etc. We could have streets full of autonomous vehicle that live out their existence serving humans and taking care of themselves.
