They already do it with Dart/Flutter, you have to manually "disable analytics" every time you upgrade.
That proposal is BS, there are millions of open source projects written in Go from where they could analyze usage patterns.
What exactly are they sending though? They're supposed to be fully open source, unless telemetry is a closed-source addon ala Chrome or VSCode

Quite a few programs written in go have, I notice, install Quic, gos networking protocol behind the scenes.

I'm sure if this happens that there will be an independent fork dedicated to just this one purpose. It would also reduce performance, for sure. They need to be making friends with open source people not turning into the bad guys...
Anyhow, I'm sure it won't be hard to find and disable it, they won't do themselves any favours by trying to stop it.

That is ridiculous. But I can semi understand it from a developer prospective they want usage and crash reports sent so I am sure some have good intentions. But Google being google they will definitely abuse it and use for tracking and or ad placement.
