I always write what I have in mind. I don't care if is good or bad (from POV of others). It is what it is in my mind.
But yes, sometimes, I take long hiking walks and just think about a subject I want to write. Walking in silence makes you clear your mind from any distractions and focus on the subject, sometimes you see answers that you never thought about before.
