You mentioned that nine were funded, but how many participants did you have last year?
reply
there were a bunch of us.
i guess 25-40 on the discord in my cohort last year

Interesting, thanks for sharing! How was your experience?

I got a late start, something paperwork related as I remember.. could have been on my side, tho
starting late resulted in being me out of sync with my cohort, so.. wait, I started on time, then fell out of sync somehow.
out of sync meant the team was already past me in terms of progression through the learning objectives.
anyway, being out of sync had advantages and disadvantages. but ChainCode does a good job of helping you get back to sync, if you're willing to do the work.
that's the big part of it, (and honestly separates the hungry and capable from the rest) if you don't show up for it, you don't go anywhere with it. they put all sorts of resources right in front of you + nearly 24/7 support to help get you unstuck... and it is totally free to use, but in order to get the benefits you must use it.
anyway, I liked it. theres a choice between bitcoin or lightning studies around the halfway point, I chose bitcoin. if I went thru a 2nd time, I'd do lightning to learn more.
oh, it was awesome to get some rust exposure too... and python, oof

I think you might be referring to the old bitcoin/Lightning seminars that Chaincode used to run.
The BOSS Challenge is a different program, you can read more about it here: https://bosschallenge.xyz
i guess 25-40 on the discord in my cohort last year
Last year the program definitely had way more than 25–40 people on Discord

I participated in BOSS last year... I underestimated the population tho!

Asking for everyone:
Does it make sense to apply even if one already contributed to bitcoin?
I assume yes, but I'm not sure.
reply
Yes! All are welcome.

This is an awesome program, looking forward to this year's alumni!
reply
Respect for this program! Are you organizing it?
reply
Can anyone with zero coding knowledge also participate?

I'd say it depends less on your current skills and more on your dedication to acquire any necessary skills:
The 2026 ₿OSS Challenge is designed for all levels of experience in software development. Passion and dedication are a must. This challenge is technically rigorous requiring a strong technical foundation. However, we aim to have as few barriers to entry as possible so if in doubt, you SHOULD apply.

At least in past years, the program expected participants to solve coding challenges in the first week, so while it may be open to anyone you might find that the pace hard to keep up with, if you're just starting out with programming.

If one only had time

There is a tool for that...

Where is it at?
