As one who has at various times struggled with running BTC Payserver and who has been loathe to pay the monthly cost of hosting, I have to admit this is intriguing:
It's just a PR on their repo right now, but I think they're looking for feedback and review.
What is the status of this btw? are there any updates?
I believe it has been released:

What's the status of this? has there been any progress? I'd like to see how subscriptions work on a BTCPayserver with no use of nwc
What is the status of this super cool feature? Is it ready to be used in production or in a test btcpayserver?
This is cool. Who have a datacenter, even if is a small servers farm, could sell "cloud BTCpay" servers and make a buck.
You can even could buy some cheap VPS and prepare them with a bunch of BTCpay servers VM and "rent" them with a markup price. Could be a nice and easy business.
Now that you can connect any NWC account as source to a BTCpay server, practically you have multiple ways to use it on limited VPS (no need for heavy full node)
You had my curiosity, now you have my attention

Seems like something that would be ripe for a tutorial or a demo...
I'd like something like this. Share the hosting costs with some other small merchants.
How is that you catching all these business/merchant things? I'll need to add this too to our next TM7 summary in the ~AGORA, the place where business meet bitcoin and bitcoin meet business - ₿2B :)
masterful nostr/x usage?
I need to review my feed...
