Hi Stackers
I'm attempting to 'spin up' a lightning.pub node for the first time.
  1. where it says Paste one line and have a Pub node in under 2 minutes......🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  2. I have zero computer science experience and im using a potato of a chrome book that's older than some of you 🤣🤣
  3. so far I've installed Linux, installed Docker, installed Node, installed Nano 🤣🤣🤣🤣 my ******* head is spinning 🥴
  4. how you do this all day is initially frustrating but equally quite enjoyable once you get that burst of data meaning you've done something right!
So i think 🤔 I've followed the steps, so far, but im at a brick wall with Configure values in the env file, am i supposed to edit anything here?
Not sure what I'm doing but it's been fun as well as demanding.
I haven't seen the npub nsec either, so I may have missed that.
I can start over if need be
And thank you @justin_shocknet for building this, im getting there slowly 🐌 😊
Yo!
If you're doing just the one line install there's no need to change the envs, defaults will work, and the script will spit out the nprofile (The node nsec is kept in the DB)
Also won't need docker that way
Are you using ChromeOS? I haven't tested that but if so it'd be good to know it works
If you missed the nprofile out of the script you can view it with cat ~/lightning_pub/admin.connect which will include the admin secret so you can access the dashboard/invite screen from shockwallet

Yes chromeOS but im in Linux, i can start over, I feel like I've over installed all these node and nano and Docker 🤣🤣
reply
Hah, yea we made the script to help people avoid that, the experience can't hurt though
If you run the script again it should spit the nprofile out it it's successful, but again I haven't tested ChromeOS linux

I might have to admit defeat for now! My son can help me on Wednesday, when I run deploy lightning pub
Im getting failed to start
Frustrating but I'll pick up Wednesday 😠 😡
reply
Bummer, I'll see if I can track down a ChromeOS, my guess it's just missing the service manager of a typical Linux (systemd if your son is so inclined)

So, as I wrote in #1285450, I wanted to know where people keep their nodes... and then I saw this... but then I saw that https://lightning.pub wouldn't load correctly...
come to find out, they're using tailwind's CDN... which appears to be using Cloudflare's CDN

Sonofa... that's an otherwise packed page on colocated iron, apparently the packing isnt using the local css...
Getting due for an update anyway. We otherwise only use a CDN for video (and obvs github hosted stuff)
