I am really interested in playing around with some different ideas and concepts around Lightning connected apps but I'm not sure where to find hosted lightning infra. Ideologically, I love bitcoin's ethos and the idea of digital self-sovereignty but the reality is we need seamless interoperability between custodial and non-custodial infra around lightning/bitcoin.

Google "Voltage + lightning" idk if they still have the promotion, but when I signed up for free, they gave me like a 10 USD credit which lets you run a Lightning node for about a month to mess around with development.

Yep I agree with @nkmg re: voltage for easy startup.
I found it really limiting though. For experiments yes makes sense.
Also look into lnbits
