not too long ago i took a break for a couple weeks from managing the sats infrastructure and came back to a giant un-announced channel force-closure, tor not working on one of the machines, node not starting, some wallet balance not updating...
i then imagined running nodes for a group of people in the future and thought that zapping and storing sats telepathically, between trusting good fellow men, can be way more reliable, stress-free, and fun; is that not the future everyone dreams of building? why get paranoid over a single-sig hodl or sats in an unstable lightning channel?
i have a friend who does not yet know how to run lightning, so he lets me keep accounting for the sats that i owe him, one day, when the amount becomes of a sufficient size for a UTXO; if he ever needs me to get something via lightning, i cud get it, and make a mental accounting note for our mutual balance;
"don't trust verify" is a pretty good mantra for when trust is at its lowest in society;
however, "trust but verify" is likewise a good mantra, for when trust in society is okay;
it's our fault, u know... that trust in fellow men got eroded to the point of having to rely on random psychopathic entities as 3rd parties; surely it would have been nice for everyone to have a bad-ass grandpa and a wise grandma to impart guiding principles of life; however, the elders cud not resist the temptations of luxury, and fell into unconsciousness; they abandoned their kids and grandkids; it became harder for every subsequent generation to get back onto the proper way of life;
how many generations back did these problems start? i wud say at least 5, but probably 5000! after all, look at the ancient buildings, built with perfection, aligned on earth according to cosmic geometries, capable of unimaginable power projection/transmission (and allegedly built using donkeys, slaves, and chisels); how did those creative living beings mess up so badly?!
when all members of the trust-society think correctly, get properly educated, and get instant feedback on their behaviors, then positive changes will start manifesting!
now, i am not saying don't run ur own node, or don't teach people to hodl, but strive to look beyond bitcoin and bitcoin's use as "money" or "currency" - in a better world that i envision, there is no worldly concept of money or currency; sure fiat money is much worse, but bitcoin as money is still a cope for the fallen mankind - Bitcoin is Plan B; a good life is Plan A!
what is going to start us back on the road to evolution is Love & Care, and what is going to propel us beyond what was previously achieved by the advanced ancient civilizations is Knowledge & Imagination;
anyways, the node is back up, tor works, looks like i don't need a large channel for the small occasional payments, and the wallet balance is accurate on the backend;
