Made it to 2 years of 100+ pushups per day
I was supposed to do it for a week, as an experiment. I didn't even take a proper "before" picture or whatever. In any case, doing it for the week was surprisingly easy. So I continued...
It wasn't always easy though. I was roadtripping around Australia when I started. I remember pulling up at around 2 AM to a hotel after a detour in the outback due to road damage, after a long day of driving, only to force myself to the ground and start the pushup routine.
I also travelled (read: changed timezones) a fair bit, was sick for almost the entire month of May this year, did some 40+ hour workweeks (physical labor) on top of my usual work with Satoshee, my writing and other interests... but in any case, it was always doable. There was never a moment where I was so sick and so tired, that I couldn't push out 5x25 pushups or 3x42 pushups or anything in between. So there was never an excuse.
The first 6 months provided the most profound impact. Within those 6 months, I also went from 100+ to 120+ per day, started utilizing more variations of pushups (i.e. pike pushup, diamond pushup, spiderman, etc.) and made an acquaintance with sleeping on the floor (a yoga mat) - which I'm still doing on and off (I mostly sleep on the floor nowadays, but unfortunately I've gotten so used to it that one of the original perks - the desire to get up as soon as you wake up in the morning due to being uncomfortable - is gone).
Also, to be perfectly clear, I'm not doing only pushups. I do yoga daily (usually combine yoga + calisthenics). I hike and/or walk on almost a daily basis. This summer I also finally took up running (although been slacking now that the weather's getting cold). I don't really do gyms tho. If anything, the pullup bar and a couple of lightweight dumbbells are enough for me to spice up the sesh.

January 2025, New Zealand (I went hard that month, and it shows)
June 2025, Hong Kong
October 2025, Estonia (the 2 year mark)
I have also been practicing handstands (on and off) since about a year before I started doing the pushups... got myself a set parallettes a few months ago, which I'm very happy about. I haven't been as locked in on doing the handstands as I have with pushups, though. I must get to it. I'm yet to do something I've wanted to do for a long time... a handstand pushup. As such, the journey continues...
Impressive. Most of us quit the after 100 days or so.

i have long been contemplating what shud my bare-minimum physical exertion be on a daily basis; as i quit the fiat job, i started ramping up my outdoor activity, specifically going into the sun and nature on a daily basis; on walks i now wear a backpack with weights (+/- baby), slowly increasing the load; since it's getting colder, i also practice wearing the minimum clothing tolerable; i already have snow-shoeing in mind!
at home i have a 2nd story loft which is within jumping distance for pull-ups; typically i aim for 21 pull-ups at a time (3x7); since i used to lift heavy, hand-stands, pull-ups, and rock-climbing are incentivizing me to stay light and strong; tree branches are everywhere as well for pull-ups on the go ;)
hand-stands are great, i have been to a couple of workshops by Yuri pictured below; these require extreme discipline, and a long warm-up session, longer than i usually have patience for; i use palm-sized wooden blocks, and will probably get wedge-shaped blocks later for more comfortable wrist position;
one day i'll have at least a free-standing handstand, if not the one-handed handstand;

Sounds awesome! Wishing you the best of luck and determination on your journey! I'm sure that with a guide like Yuri you'll advance in no time, plus a kid can be a big motivator as well I can imagine :) But yeah, handstands are no joke, especially on one hand, I mean dayum! A couple of years ago I stopped in Darwin, Australia for a while, there was a dude there in the local outdoor gym quite often & he nonchalantly went and pulled off a one-handed HSPU one time, even he himself was surprised he could do that lol

Did you start with 100?
I assume you started at a much lower number before you built to 100?
reply
Yes I started with 100, but I was in a pretty decent shape before that already as well.
