I have a bitaxe gamma 601 board with the following settings:
  • Core voltage: 1150
  • ASIC Freq: 525
  • Automatic Fan Control: ON
  • Target Temp: 58 °C
Is this graph normal / expected? My other ones dont seem to have temp swing as much and all 3 are sitting on the same table

a full view of dashboard. it seems like its staying hot longer. might it need new thermal paste or something?

On first glance I find it pulling 21.5 watts at the settings you specified to be a bit off.

It is overheating and throttling. But 21.5w is a lot for standard 525mhz. What is the voltage you are running? It maybe set to high. 1150mV is standard. You can run with 1100mV on 525mhz I run my german bitaxes with 1100mV up to 600-625mhz. I heard the china bitaxes are bad quality compared to german or swiss made. But even with china built bitaxes 15j/th should be possible.

how would i debug more? should i call the people i bought it from? my other 2 are at 18.49 J/Th and 15.99 J/Th while its still 20.2 J/Th but one is a 602 board

Are you in a particularly warm environment? Ensured the heatsink is seated properly? Otherwise I can't really see why the temps are behaving that way. 5.1V input suggests the power supply is fine. ASIC voltage is correct.
I let mine run for about an hour with the tab left open so it would log a good bit of data. You'll notice the frequency is a lot higher at 600MHz but my power draw is like 10% lower than yours with the commensurate efficiency improvement. You'll also notice the temperature is basically flat with a room temperature of about 25 celsius.

these are screenshots from after i added a fan blowing on all of them. ill try leaving the door open to the room and might repaste the 1 that still is going a lil hot. also while instantaneous is off the avg listed seem more reasonable. the one that is hotter is set to 550 now while others are at 600

Looks like air conditioning lowering ambient temperature?

i hadn't thought of the ac... i should log room temp
