World Class Pool Tournament in Roanoke VA

There are two pool tournaments with a bunch of professional players in it coming up Aug 11 - 16 in Roanoke Virginia, one 9ball, one one pocket:

Something like 3-5 out of the top 10 and 10-12 out of the top 100 players in the world will be there. I'm going to play in both, my first real attempt at top level competition in one pocket, and my second in nine ball.
I'm going to shill Bitcoin and Nostr and Tunestr.io and HiveTalk and FOSS of course, but I'm not much of a talker or a salesman in social situations so if you have ideas let me know.

  • It will be free to just watch, it's just a pool hall, though there may be VIP seating at the TV table and seating close to the tournament tables can be limited
  • One pocket is like chess, where 9 ball is like checkers. Not fun to watch if you don't know the game. Everyone knows 9 ball though. 9 ball starts the 13th.
  • There's a big auction before each event. It's called a calcutta. You pick the player you think will win, and bid on that player. All the money goes in the middle. Whoever wins, the person who bought the player gets the money. It's logistically complex and interesting and strategy and allows participation from more than just the players and their stakehorses.
  • Can't just walk up in the middle of a match and starting talking to the competitors, but socially around the room it's wide open and feel free, and as far as I'm concerned, cheer while I'm shooting, I don't care (but for my opponent, silence is golden)
  • Pool players are cool and see through bullshit
  • It's not the tournaments where you have to where a bowtie, pretty sure this one is come as you are, but I think this is also a qualifying event for the World Nineball Tour. I'm just learning this stuff as I was out of competitive pool doing family and sobriety for over a decade.
