It's looking grim for the human race ... Homes as a primary vehicle for savings is such a mistake. Nobody can afford to settle down.

This is something I don’t really understand. Why would anyone need to own a property, a house, whatever, to settle down?

Feeling of insecurity? Harder to have kids in a 1 bedroom apartment.

In (western) Europe renting residential properties is quite common, relatively wildly available, and is considered a relatively secure form of housing. This sounds like an excuse to me.

An excuse for what? Western Europe is probably the best place in the world to be a renter, certainly renters in Australia for example, live a much less predictable home life.

I was at an event last week and talked to lots of people. There definitely a lot of younger people that feel very pessimistic about ever owning a home, and many also don't want to have kids without a home.
