Not sure if ~devs would be the better place to ask this but I want to play around with vibe coding and deploying some relatively simple apps. Can you shill me some decent hosting providers?

Not completely retarded, but ~15 years out from touching any code (so mostly retarded). Hoping to ChatGPT my way through any troubleshooting and deployment issues. Hoping for some basic CRUD app functionality to start.

Read the code to make sure its actually doing what it looks like. And don't build anything you're going to host on a website, unless you WANT to get hacked.

When you read the code, you'll see how terrible it is.

I was actually wondering what all the fuss is about the vibe coding thing.

haha yeah i was going to go with Cursor..

but what are the good hosting providers these days? I think I used Dreamhost 2 decades ago... looks like they're still alive lol... tempted to go back with them for nostalgia purposes.

yeah the hacking thing scares me a bit but only one way to find out... i'm guessing just asking the AI to look for common vibe coded security holes isn't enough lol

Make sure to post your CRUD app's IP on SN to proudly announce what you've built so we can take over and torrent anime on it later

Hmmmm... maybe I should haha...

A couple of years ago I was trying to go through their Python courses on their free tier and I used up all of my time because I accidentally left the tab open in the background... so I'm still salty about that lol

reply

I started using replit last night and it’s very easy especially on mobile.

linode is relatively affordable. digital ocean is also a pretty good option. netlify i believe is free. depends on how complex you want your crud app to be. GCP (google cloud platform) will give you credits as well as azure and aws but have a slightly higher learning curve. hope that helps

I use one that accepts bitcoin and has terraform compatibility: bitLaunch. How many cloud providers can claim this? PS: Vultr is not a valid answer because they use BitPay to accept bitcoin, which means mandatory KYC.

Have you looked at shakespeare.diy it's a Nostr native llm specifically for vibe coding.

Maybe a little too simplistic for you because even I could use it lol

If you're looking for a more hands on experience, you can view the code and use it as you wish.

You can either ask it to render it just for your viewing pleasure, or you can download it to your command line and deploy it if you have a server

There is some feasibility to deploy using blossom servers but you'll be more comfortable with that, than I am lol

Good

If you're just getting back into coding and want something beginner-friendly for deploying CRUD apps, I'd highly recommend checking out hostinger. I've been using it recently and wrote a detailed breakdown of their current deals and setup process hostinger best deals. It might save you some time when choosing the right plan for small projects."

Love the honesty — “mostly retarded” gave me a good laugh 😂. If you're just messing around and want something low-stress, I’d recommend Railway or Fly.io. Both are super beginner-friendly and play nicely with full-stack CRUD apps. Also, if you’re ChatGPT-ing your way through deployment (respect), they both have solid docs and supportive communities. If you’re comfortable with a bit more config, Hetzner has cheap VPSs with great performance. Good luck with the vibe coding journey — sounds like a fun dive back into the dev pool!
