I never had discipline when it came to self-managing, I tend to over-work, break down work time in unpredictable ways and sequentially obsess over single micro-tasks part of a big task.

But it's been a couple of days trying to self-manage with the Pomodoro technique¹ and... it works?? I don't find myself looping over the same problem, and I actually get less strained allowing me to produce qualitatively better stuff.

Pomodoro technique consists of breaking down focus/work in 25 minutes laps, every 25 minutes you do a 5-min break, away from the screen, and every 4 laps you do a 25 minutes break. ↩

I do this with 55m blocks. Also keeps my nicotine habit alive, which is questionable as an outcome and my doc hates me for it but whatevs. Can't be perfect.

Thanks for letting me know! We pushed a fix an hour ago, but sounds like that didn't fix what you're experiencing? Did you at least only have to enter your passphrase once this time?

Is your device maybe running out of space which could cause the browser to delete the key to decrypt your wallets?

It was just a payment that didn't o though. I went to Wallet and entered the passphrase again and it worked. I'll let you know if it happens again.

I want to write an essay about AI as a tool vs. an extension.

I think AI will shape our lives as much as smartphones did, and I think we wouldn't say smartphones are "just tools." A tool does not shape our lives in so many unpredictable ways.

Let's see if I'll ever write it. Instead of only using my new notebook for journaling, I think I will also use it to take notes for essay ideas now.

Happiness Journal 17/7/25

It isn’t every day that pure, unadulterated joy consumes my whole being, much like a cup of warm Arashiyama sake warming up my senses. Yesterday, I spent 45 minutes trying to help the mother of a child give consent to him receiving vaccinations. You might think that granting permission is easy, given the prevalence of digital technologies these days, but I can see why it would be daunting for a foreigner who hasn’t been schooled in much English. That’s why I kept my cool and maintained my patience, calling multiple times and taking various screenshots.

Today, I checked with the nurse. Success! The mother had finally managed to give consent. I immediately marched to the classroom to get her son. He obviously expressed reluctance in getting the vaccinations, but well, the broad grin on his face betrayed his cool demeanour. I guess he doesn’t want to feel left out, even if he doesn’t care about getting vaccinated.

As a productivity-consumed individual, I have to confess that I felt euphoric because my 45 mins of hard work didn’t go to waste. But I’m also happy for the boy and his mother. That’s one administrative nightmare that I helped them to avert.
