I'm guessing it's a pretty individual thing. I would be interested to see results of some sort of survey though. I would happily spend time filling one out, although stackers do love their anonymity so good luck getting a lot of participants.

I get the feeling most of us are GenX or early Millennials.

Yea, that's what I'm seeing. Except I think @siggy47 is like 98 or something. 😉

It couldn't be any clearer that Siggy is 47. Do you think there are 46 other Siggies here?

He's in his 90s!!! How many 90 year olds do you think are out there gunning people down? He's very obviously a retired assassin, and unless somone kills his dog, hes likely to stay that way.

What do they call the generation born between 1900 and 1920?

I agree, but that's part of what confuses me. How can Stacker News be something that appeals to so few people, but does so in a wide variety of ways?

Maybe the common theme is that we all have thick enough skin. There's some real assholes around here, and it's a small community.
Being a fresh face was a little intimidating for me at first. I'm just some random asshole and SN is full of incredibly smart people. Under those circumstances, it doesn't take a whole lot of abuse to feel like you aren't welcome here.

I suspect that's a big part of it. I also wonder how important those guard dogs are to the community we enjoy.

They're really good at keeping it small if that's what you like. Labeling someone a "shitcoiner" for all eternity because they aren't the perfect little bitcoiner from day one isn't exactly helpful to anyone in my opinion.
