Been working on a newer version of https://micropay.ai for the past few weeks after a brief hiatus. Will have tons of new features I believe this community would love!
This would be a non-profit or do you plan to make money in some other way?
The idea is to provide our service to as many developers as possible who want to create lightning apps but don't want to manage a node. We would fundraise to fuel this early growth similar to strike.me and then consider pricing models in the future.
Does this mean it's non-custodial?
Yes, it would be non-custodial. Funds will be sent directly to your wallet using wallet wrappers like Lndhub. This would also work with your personal node like Umbrel for example!

The user would use their own wallet such as Bluewallet or Wallet of Satoshi. The sats deposited using our product will be directly deposited into your personal wallet. We will not hold any of your funds.

@haseab and I have been toying around with the idea of creating a lightning payments API to get developers from 0 -> 1 so they can build lightning-enabled apps within minutes.
A couple questions I have for you:
- Do you have a need for something like this? Why or why not?
- What is your decision criteria in considering whether or not to use it?
That's actually very insightful! I'm really glad you mentioned this. It seems like there exists several products on the internet which charge subscription pricing but really should not be. Those products, as you described, are needed in the spur of the moment for a couple uses but are not valuable beyond that. Those products are the perfect usecase for micropayments.
Great point! Also yes, we are actively exploring all possible use cases and services where we can branch out from.
A question for you: What are some services you use in your own life where you wish you could pay-per-use?

That's a great question! Simply put, you enter any text and it generates an image based on the input. It uses this AI model under the hood - https://openai.com/dall-e-2/. Payments are accepted over lightning. We're also expanding to support more products soon
