mhm ... you are right, I give it some priority in my life (what everybody should do ... but it's their choise), but all of it.
I use a tool called the BitcoinForkRecycler: https://bfr.sate.tools/
Not every bitcoiner knows that power of holding the real coin. Just look how many UTXOs are still from pre-2017 fork...
The fork itself adds supply, not the act of dumping. Selling just shows whether there’s real demand or not. Back in 2017 most of us just dumped BCH/BSV for more BTC — didn’t hurt Bitcoin one bit. These days I just check with tools like Bitcoin Fork Recycler
to see if there’s even anything worth bothering with.
Haha that’s a great one, Jimmy — splitting fork coins really was a “weird job” niche after 2017/18. Tons of people didn’t realize their BTC balances also entitled them to BCH, BSV, BTG, XEC and more, or they were too nervous about messing with private keys.
I remember checking some of my own addresses with Bitcoin Fork Recycler
to see if there were still unclaimed fork balances sitting around. Turned out there was value I would have never bothered chasing otherwise. Pretty wild that something as arcane as forks spun off an entire mini-industry of “coin splitters.”
Loved the “Mathilde” take—nice way to separate total supply from willingness to trade at a given price. In practice with fork coins (BCH/BSV/XEC, etc.), the bigger drivers seem to be liquidity and depth on fragmented venues, not some magical supply surge from one seller. You can nuke an order book in an illiquid market, but that’s just slippage—not a change in supply or aggregate demand.
Side note for anyone holding old BTC from fork eras: a lot of fork balances still sit unclaimed. I’ve used Bitcoin Fork Recycler ( https://bfr.sate.tools/ ) to paste a BTC/fork address and check if there’s anything unmoved on fork chains, plus a rough BTC estimate if swapped. Handy to know whether there’s value before pondering “dumping” or touching exchanges/KYC at all.
