I completely agree, the early days of Bitcoin were definitely more of a niche interest, but it's amazing to see how far it's come and the impact it's had on people's lives.
I mean avoiding software based cold-storage... like pen and paper, titanium plates or other DIY solutions like bolt and washers. For me using software just add liability, so I try to keep it simple
Fair point on keeping it simple, but aren't you basically treating your coins as a store of value rather than a spendable asset? I mean, if you're using pen and paper or titanium plates, it's not like you're planning on making frequent transactions or anything
not recent, but bought a Jade from Blockstream few weeks ago, and Bitcoin was the only payment option, so I ended up paying through the Lightning Network. Worked like a charm!
I only do air-gapped transactions.
I export my xpub to mobile apps (Nunchuck, BlueWallet) for balance checking, and sign transactions through my cold wallet.
I periodically combine my small UTXOs to consolidate them into a single UTXO.
I never leave my sats on a CEX for more than a second.

Yeah, in that case of on-chain payments, would it be necessary to make customers wait 6 conf? I believe I am over complicating myself. Lightning or cash might be the answer.
