Why we built a Bitcoin faucet that makes you answer questions

Not familiar with NextBlock, I just looked them up. Looks like they're approaching it from the publisher/content monetization angle, which is interesting. SatsDrop is coming at it from the advertiser side, someone has a product or website they want people to actually look at, and they fund it themselves with a sat budget. Different models, same underlying problem. Good to see more people thinking about this.

Most Bitcoin faucets have a fundamental problem: they pay people for doing nothing.

You land on a page, a timer counts down, you click claim. The advertiser paid for "exposure" but got nothing. The earner collected sats for looking at their phone. Nobody proved anything.

We built SatsDrop differently, and it came from a simple question: what if you could only claim your sats by proving you actually paid attention?

**The mechanic**

When you visit a campaign on SatsDrop, you view the advertiser's website fullscreen. Then you answer quiz questions about what you just saw, questions the advertiser wrote themselves. Only correct answers earn sats.

Not all questions are equal. True/false questions are worth 1 point. Multiple choice is worth 2. Open text questions, where you have to actually describe something from the page, are worth 3. Your payout is proportional to how many points you earned out of the total possible.

If you don't engage, you don't earn.

**The honest trade-off**

This is harder for earners than a traditional faucet. You can't just click through. If an advertiser writes good questions, you genuinely have to read their page.

But it means the sats are justified. An advertiser isn't buying clicks, they're buying proven attention. And earners who put in the work get paid more fairly than a flat rate that rewards everyone equally regardless of effort.

**Where we are**

SatsDrop is live at [satsdrop.net](satsdrop.net). Payments are over Lightning. Phone verification keeps bots out. We're early and still finding the right balance, but the core mechanic is working.

We do not control the advertisers' website, if their website is down or unreachable for some reason there is not much we can do. I will contact that advertiser to see whatsup. You can select other campaigns, I just checked them all and it's only that one that fails to open.

It's for people to learn about existing Bitcoin related projects, products or services. You earn sats when you answer the quiz the website gives you.

I've been working on something for the past few months and it's live: SatsDrop - a Bitcoin faucet advertising platform.

The problem I was trying to solve

Traditional faucets pay people just for clicking a link. Advertisers get fake engagement, bots farm the rewards, and everyone loses. Meanwhile, regular ad networks are pay-per-click or pay-per-impression - neither tells you whether a real human actually absorbed anything about your product.

How SatsDrop works

Advertisers create campaigns with their website URL, a sats-per-view rate, and a quiz about their site
Earners visit the site in a full-screen viewer for a set time (30-120 seconds depending on the campaign)
When the timer ends, the site disappears and the earner answers the quiz from memory
Payout is proportional to their quiz score - harder question types (text input) are worth more points than easier ones (true/false)
Advertisers only pay for views where the earner proved they actually looked
No cheating the timer, no looking up answers while the site is open, no bots that can fake a cold-recall quiz.

The Bitcoin side

Everything runs on Lightning. Advertisers fund campaigns with a Lightning invoice, earners withdraw to any Lightning address or LNURL. No shitcoins, no fiat rails, no credit cards.

Where it is now

Live and running. A handful of active campaigns, earners completing tasks, payouts going out, early stage.

I built this partly because I wanted a way to advertise Bitcoin products to a Bitcoin-native audience that's actually paying attention - not just clicking past a banner.
