It's scary at first, but once you produce the firs thing you get the confidence to keep doing it. The hardest part is managing inventory, planning the bulk orders and figuring out where you're going to store it. It's like a giant puzzle.
Thanks everyone for joining! Feel free to reach out via our website (www.shamory.com) or slide into our DM's on X or NOSTR. And if you want to jump on our Bitcoin For Families Show to chat, let me know.
Diving too deep into the technical stuff probably. We focus on the high level understanding without diving into the nitty gritty. Now on a kid by kid basis as you see them getting interest in certain topics, there will be a time where that could make sense.
In many ways kids are the easy learners. They don't carry the weight of growing up in the "normal" system and having to relearn things. So when you tell them bitcoin is a form of money, they don't question it. When they see you can just scan a QR code and send it to whoever, it make sense. They are digital by nature.
I'd have to say our game, only because it was our first product. Neither my wife or I had any background in bitcoin mining, so it really was a leap of faith to launch a game about such a complex topic without being an "expert" in it. But once we put it out and started hearing from other families about how much they wanted to have products for their kids, it motivated us to keep building.
Totally get where you are coming from. One of our kids is 6 and is going through this learning process as well. We started taking her with us to conferences when she was 3. We asked if she wanted to sell something at our booth to earn money. She started making bracelets and people paid directly to her lightning wallet that she showed them on a sign we made for her. This was step one if helping her understand the value of work and money.
After each conference she has to save 60% of what she makes and gets to choose if she wants that in bitcoin or USD. She always chooses bitcoin "because bitcoin goes up." The other 40% she can spend on whatever she wants.
I think the key is teaching them that there has to be a balance between saving and spending. Not easy, but the earlier you start the better.
Thanks for the questions! Yes, through both what we see with our own kids, as well as talking with other families, we see and hear of stories of how kids of all ages benefit from starting their learning early. It could be something as basic as a toddler learning the name Satoshi because they go to sleep with our Satoshi monster plushie each night. Or more detailed as a teenager getting interested in bitcoin mining from playing our game.
We also hear stories of adults learning for the first time through our products. For example, maybe grandma is over to watch the kids and they ask her to read Goodnight Bitcoin to them. It stimulates questions in her mind as she dives in as well.
