I do. I make cards that give them small amounts of Bitcoin on the lightning network. They think it's cool, but haven't gone down the rabbit hole.
I couldn't agree more. We need to teach people that bitcoin is a new, peer-to-peer economic system, not a casino chip for a fiat gambling system.
I've tried this too. I wish I had better news, but I wasn't able to onboard anyone aside from a few close friends and even most bitcoiners don't want to spend bitcoin.
It failed to schedule for me. I'm not sure why. I signed in with the Amber App.
I also tried Shipyard.pub back in the day, but I don't really understand the use case for these apps yet.
BTCpayServer is pretty good and works with NWC now. It's pretty easy to run, but it's still new.
The other option is to get a lightning address from Zeus, GetAlby, Wallet of Satosi, etc.
Add the word lightning and : in front of it. Anyone with a lightning walket cac click it. Here's an example.
lightning:zapthisblog@getalby.com
Thank you π. I'm working on Bitcoin educational material using pedagogy. My theory is that you can't understand bitcoin without first understanding paper cash. π
Thanks you. I appreciate it and I totally agree with you.
The next article/podcast I'm working on is designed to teach people what a bitcoin private key is. I expand upon the Rai Stone Analogy Saif used in The Bitcoin Standard.
I compared the digital signature part of Bitcoin to an electronic fiat debit card that stores the time-stamped transaction records on a peer-to-peer, distributed network instead of a Trust Me Bro financial institution.
Each word represents a 4 digit PIN for your "debit card."
So if you have 12 words, you have 12 4:digit PINs that will only allow you to spend if you can enter each one of these PINs in the correct order.
If you have 24 words...etc.
I decided it would be easier to make a video than try to write this for a general audience. Stacker News is obviously not a general audience.π
