I appreciate you being willing to have this kind of conversation. That alone takes bravery. 99% of people will not engage with me like this. Most already think they know it all, with no desire to be more self aware and play more of a creator in their experience. The universe rewards bravery. Thanks for being brave.
You say your ego has been chocked out by suffering. Perhaps you identify as a person in pain. Whatever our "story", it is an illusion of mind. Ego is whatever we identify with, our story. You identify as being hurt. And your pain is real and valid, and must absolutely must be felt. Your story is real. and yet...
You can choose to let your story empower you,
(L) E (T) (it) go
re-write the story of the past.
Maybe, start a new story where you are the hero, where you know your past gives you resilience and strength. And you offer a unique perspective that help others heal with you.
There is always multiple perspectives, maybe you can choose a new one.
The ego also keeps us safe. Do you feel unsafe in this world? The goal is not to "kill" the ego permanently. "ego death" only offers perspective. The ego will always remain, as long as we are human. The goal is to identify the ego, or "know thyself", so we may masters of the ego
Then we can feel safe, guided, and empowered
In the flow
Take what is helpful. Leave the rest.
I believe as long as we are having a human experience, we have an ego. And suffering comes from ego. If you suffer, like I still do, you have ego. My ego is still strong. I have a lot more awareness of it, than I used to. I am stubborn.
And I'm still in shorts, but I'm one of those weirdos who wears shorts all year round 🤣🤣
I am that guy too.. always have been.

Quite warm this year. I can't believe its December. I was in PHX recently and it was shorts and tee-shirt, hot out still.
I understood ego as this (L) E (T) (it) go just adding 4 letters in right way tells us what to do with ego. Let it go :)
Awesome. I have never heard this before.
I don't know a ton about Buddhism, but I really like what I have learned so far.
Thanks for sharing.
