I plotted daily Bitcoin price in USD (close) against solar radio flux F10.7 for 2–31 October 2025 to check whether solar activity might be nudging the market.
	•	BTC data: daily close in USD
	•	Solar data: daily F10.7 flux (10.7 cm) from NOAA, a standard proxy for solar activity
	•	Period: 30 days (Oct 2–31, 2025)

On the chart you can spot a few moments where they seem to move in opposite directions (sun up, BTC down and vice versa), but statistically the relationship is basically noise: correlation is very close to zero on price levels and only slightly negative on day-to-day changes.

So for this one-month window, it looks like there’s no usable edge from solar activity on BTC price. Still a fun crossover between space weather and crypto—next step would be to extend this to 6–12 months, add geomagnetic Kp index, and look at hashrate / mempool fees instead of just price. For now, you probably can’t blame your bad entries on the Sun. 🌞🧡🟧

August 24, 2017: the chain doesn’t change its face—it changes its spine. Segregated Witness, BIP141-143, goes live after a fiery summer of signaling, UASF, and debate. The idea is simple: move signatures outside the “stripped” part of the transaction, killing malleability and freeing space. The limit is no longer 1 MB but 4,000,000 weight units; in practice ~1 MB of base data + up to ~3 MB of discounted witness. vbytes are born, and blocks can finally breathe.

Fewer txid headaches, better batching, Lightning channels become practical. That day didn’t cause a pump; it caused order. A soft-fork activated via BIP9 after the August lock-in rewarded conservative engineering—no shortcuts, just better byte accounting.

Adoption climbed. Wallets migrated. Miners packed blocks by weight, not appearance. Fees turned more elastic: at the same congestion, more transactions fit. Spam incentives waned. Above all, building higher layers stopped being a promise and started being routine.

SegWit doesn’t “scale” everything by itself; it opens corridors. It’s the passage from a cramped hallway to an atrium with new doorways—where batching, Taproot, Lightning, and more now stand.

April 20, 2024, 00:09 UTC. Full nodes validate, miners grin: block **840,000** lands. The **subsidy** officially drops from **6.25** to **3.125 BTC**. Signature: **ViaBTC**.

The **mempool** is a rodeo. **Runes** goes live (by Casey Rodarmor) and people start **ticker squatting** like it’s domain names in ’99. Bids in **sat/vB** explode; the halving block’s **coinbase** takes in **more in fees than in subsidy**: ~**37.6 BTC** in fees. A local micro “fee flippening” that previews the future: security shifting from subsidy to the **fee market**.

Among the txs there’s the collectible: the **epic sat**, the first satoshi of the block, tagged and later auctioned. Memetic? Yes. Also a signal: **block space** is a perpetual auction, and on-chain culture shapes demand as much as utility.

The price? No instant miracle. The network doesn’t party: it **propagates blocks ~every 10 minutes**, adjusts **difficulty** every **2016 blocks**, and keeps the world turning without permission. The halving doesn’t promise; it **enforces recursive discipline**: lower issuance, more competition for space, incentives realigning.
