If you had asked me just half an hour ago if this budget resolution was going to be adopted I would have told you give the number of hold outs there was just no way possible. Well all be a sob if Johnson and Scalise did not manage to get it through.
Yest Trump obviously helped in some aspects but the maneuvering that has to be done on the floor by the leadership team is intense. Naturally the only No vote from the Republicans came from Thomas Massie and unless we reduce Federal Spending to 0 Rep. Massie would note no... Even if the Government didnt spend any money he still might vote no...
It goes to show you the thin thin majority the House Republicans have. It also keeps the House up with the Senate when it comes to pushing their different budget ideas forward. The House had to keep pushing forward and this is what we have seen... it has been against some wild odds but I will be damned if Johnson didnt pull it out.
Any chance of the Senate rejecting it?

So the Senate in theirs advanced one that did not provide instructions... this is interesting because if the House advanced theirs like they seem to be doing the Senate is going to have to go back through some motions... At least that is my understanding. The House one does come with instructions for the 4 corners negotiation for the reconciliation package.

“If the Republican plan passes under the rosiest assumptions, which aren’t even true, we’re gonna add $328 billion to the deficit this year, we’re gonna add $295 billion to the deficit the year after that, and $242 billion to the deficit after that, under the rosiest assumptions” Massie warned, adding “Why would I vote for that?”
I’m with Massie here both parties love to raise that debt ceiling. More free assets for the financial system (Treasuries) more pain for us

You could cut everything pay no one and Massie still would not vote for it. He runs on an idea that you cannot accomplish without give and take. It is literally impossible for us to legally reverse the deficit this next year or two. This is a multi year affair and he doesnt care. He wants it to be his way or the highway. I think he and Chip Roy are in for a hellacious primary next year. Whoever runs against them will be ridiculously well funded. Massie also has been taken stances that hurt his constituents which only adds to him getting primaried or even worse... he wins that and loses to a moderate dem who goes I wont screw yall over.

I'm in Massie's district (KY 4th) and we want him to vote against Federal spending.
Rand Paul in the Senate and Thomas Massie in the House are maxi Libertarians that use the Republican party as a way to maintain a presence in DC.
Even Senator McConnel has been acting a little better recently since he decided to retire.

We all know we need to cut funding but you have to do it realistically and rationally. He does neither. When cuts get agreed to over the 118th and now the 119th Congresses he derails the efforts. I put a huge amount of the CR hell we are in on him from last Congress. We had a deal and cuts to be made immediately and he didnt like them they were not enough. Now he is pushing the government towards his poison pill of immediate 1% spending cuts which isnt realistic.
This whole thing is give and take and since we have retaken the House in 2022 he hasnt played ball well with others at all and has driven us into worse situations.
